Upcoming Events:

“The festival is Central Otago’s biggest celebration of locally produced wines and is held every year on Easter Sunday just before the major grape harvest.

From humble beginnings when about five wineries took part, the festival has grown over the years with more than 20 wine producers now offering wines from the world’s most southerly vineyards. Leading the wines is Pinot Noir, the wine that put Central Otago on the world wine map and with more than 20 wine labels at the festival there is a great opportunity to taste the subtle differences which vary according to growing conditions – what the French call terroir. There are also other wine varieties available. The festival also includes a food produce and general market, live music, children’s entertainment, and an art exhibition. It starts at 11am and ends at 5pm. Promote Dunstan is a non-profit making group of people who give their time and energy to a number of community projects. Over the years, money raised at the festival has been donated to Friends of Dunstan Hospital, Central Otago WasteBusters, Clyde Play Centre, Clyde Primary School and the Alexandra St John Ambulance. It is by any measure an impressive assemblage of people and Pinot Noir. A carefully selected line-up of keynote speakers will take part along with 120 New Zealand producers (accompanied by their wines, of course) representing eight different regions. Media, trade representatives and pinot disciples from near and far will be present. The programme is rich with tastings, lively addresses and discussions, palate-wowing New Zealand food, cultural events and more. Click here to see the preliminary programme.

It takes place in Christchurch from 23-25 February 2021. Multiple venues will be used for the various programme elements, including the city’s brand new design statement – the convention centre Te Paē and the equally splendid Te Puna O Waiwhetu, the Christchurch City Art Gallery.”
