The first sauvignon blancs, rosés and pinot gris from the 2015 vintage are filtering onto the shelves. After a favourably warm, sunny and dry summer – combined with a 27% drop in the crop as a result of a cool, frosty spring – everyone predicted the wines would be richly flavoured. It’s easy to forget that 2014 was a mammoth harvest; the size of the 2015 harvest is about average. The good news is that the wines are impressive – deliciously aromatic, vibrant and flavour-packed.
