After tasting about 3000 wines, our columnist names his best red and white buys of the year.
Issue 3941 19 November 2015
At a tasting I presented a while ago, there were envious looks when the host told his guests why the event had to be staged in midwinter. “Michael says he is going to spend the next couple of months tasting wine…” The result is my annual book, New Zealand Wines 2016 – Michael Cooper’s Buyer’s Guide (Upstart Press, $39.99), published last week. Many of the reviews flow from that intense period of tasting during August, September and early October, which ensures the book is as up to date as possible, by featuring many wines from the 2015 vintage.
