  • Lion Beer, Spirits and Wine is snapping up our favourite wine labels

    From bubbly to rosé and red, Lion is snapping them up. What do Lindauer and Wither Hills, two of our most popular wine brands, have in common? Both are owned by Lion Beer, Spirits & Wine (NZ), itself controlled by the Japanese beer and soft drink producer, Kirin Holdings, part of the Mitsubishi empire. The giant brewer bought Wither Hills’ vineyards, winery and brand in 2002. The Daniel Le Brun sparkling wine brand was also snapped up in 2007, followed two years ago by the Morton Estate brand.
